| New Web site Customized tours This is something we do since last year and have now as a standard offer: customized tours! |
|
Unicorn Adventures Ltd has the ability to create your own tour depending on your departure and return dates, or other requirements: include all meals, extend or shorten a tour, remove luggage management, include rest days and so on and so forth... Those customized tours, are only for groups of more than 4 people and have to be organised at least 4 month prior to tour departure and require a booking deposit 4 month ahead of tour departure.
Week-end tours

Fleet changes Some changes in our fleet ! You may have noticed on the new site that the BMW K1200LT is no more available for bikers but only for the Chauffeur service. Considering that most customers prefer, in this category, the lighter BMW R1200RT we have decided to keep the K1200LT and its top-comfort for non-bikers willing to join our tours. A nice way to share the biker vacation experience !

Guarantee cheque Non European customers riding a Unicorn Adventures Ltd bike are always surprised when, prior to tour start, we ask for a guarantee cheque of some thousand euros. Why is that? Why does the amount of the cheque vary with the bike type? Do you get that cheque back?
Why? Because in case you crash the bike, you drop it or get it stolen there is a cost for us (no insurance makes a 100% reimbursement, unfortunately) to get it fixed/recovered etc….
Cheque amounts vary depending of the bike type. A GS has less fairing than a RT or LT thus implying less costs to fix it.
Will you get the cheque back? Of course yes! We don't even cash it in….until there is a problem! |

The good vibes: Harley Davidson Bikes
FLHRC (c) Unicorn
Adventures Ltd Vibrations: when you talk HD and Twin Cam you have to talk about vibrations. Some call them "good vibrations" and some…lose their teeth and bolts. On the Heritage, thanks to a softer engine mount, you will feel less vibrations, but the Road King is there to help you lose what was left to shake away! |
|
What is that sound? As if the foot was on the road! Well in fact your foot IS on the ground only protected from the rude contact by the thickness of the foot rest. Now it becomes all clear why they are that thick! After the first surprise you can't stop playing with the torque and the foot rest scratching! Unfortunately only the people behind you enjoy the sparkles!
This test allowed us to understand a bit of what is behind riding a HD and why you get hooked to the brand! Why there is such a passion about those bikes. And why we offer BMW bikes to our customer on Unicorn Adventures Ltd tours! |

Holy week in Corsica During the Holy Week, at Easter time, religious ceremonies take place through whole Corsica. The most remarkable are Thursdays and Holy Fridays processions, when numerous cities and villages commemorate the Easter events.
The religious brotherhoods of Corsica are very old. Born in the Franciscan sphere during the Middle Ages, they are the heirs of the "battuti": penitents who went in procession from a village to the other, while whipping themselves mutually.
In Bonifacio, brotherhood members walk in processions through the city, on different roads, and meet in the parochial church to be blessed. Each brotherhood carries statues of saints on shrines made of wood illuminated by torches and lanterns. In Calvi, brotherhood members walk in procession within the citadel with a hood and barefoot. On regular stops they play the "Granitola", a movement which is a spiral that rolls up and unrolls. In Corte, on the evening of Holy Thursday, the procession of the "King Christ " proceeds through the old city streets illuminated by candles. In Erbalunga, on Holy Friday morning, the "Cerca" procession takes place on more than 12 kilometres, from church to church. In the evening, hooded penitents also act "the Granitola." |
|
Either knelt or lying before the high altar, penitents must wait that all pilgrims have kissed the lying Christ one by one. Once the ceremony over, the Catenacciu is brought back to his cell. The Catenacciu procession crossed ages. Created in 1710 in Sartène, the "compagnia del Santissimo Sacramento" brotherhood, extincted in 1920, has been revived in 1990.

Up until recent times most "women only" parties consisted of Tupperware stuffs, lingerie, or sex toys. The new trend seems to be the Garage Parties!
Created by a well known motorcycle brand for its dealers, the Garage Party concept is designed to target new female riders and owners. The objective is a kind of demystification of motorcycle riding. Each female participant (men are absolutely not allowed) can ask any question and is encouraged to try out, sit on and get a feel for the different models. A way to learn about the HD (oops here is the brand!) motorcycles and to meet other women with shared interests. There are also mini-sessions on relevant topics such as customising your motorcycle, basic maintenance, etc.
In this way, the workshops introduce women to the riding opportunity and know-how in order to move forward or upgrade from passenger to rider…and selling them a bike.
A great marketing lesson. Well done HD!

The following advice is based on a technique we like, this means you may have to adapt it to yourself or even not use it (of course the following advice is a personal one and as such neither the author nor Unicorn Adventures Ltd could be held responsible), but we like it.
There are two interesting facts with the downhill hairpin curve: you are higher when you enter it than when you exit from it: means a better view of the trajectory; and your speed is a very peaceful one (we talk about normal bikers here). So what is the problem then? Keeping the bike light and easy to handle! Thus managing properly the engine revs and gear. Either you try to get down in first gear and have a very nervous engine and hard to handle bike, or you try the second gear and may have to go faster than necessary to keep the revs in a good range. Why make it so complex when all you have to do is…clutch!
Lets summarize it: curve entry = front breaking to transfer weight to the front tire and get best grip, clutch, get it in second gear (don't release the clutch), let the bike roll in the curve (you will see how light and smooth it feels), control speed with rear brake, rev up and release the clutch in the corner, get some power in and start again at the next curve!
Key word: light handling! |
