Day
1: As the French Riviera unravels its roads
before us, you will enjoy the wonderful cliffs,
the sea, and the charming little villages of this
beloved coast. The day will end in Géménos, but
before getting there you will have experienced the
route des Crètes high above the sea, with its fabulous
panoramic views of the area.
Day
2: In the morning the group will board the ferry
in Marseille for a day cruise on the Mediterranean
Sea.
Day
3: Tunis will welcome the group to Tunisia but
no time to waste! The ride south starts along the
coast and the Hammamet gulf. On the way stays Sousse,
also called the "Pearl of the Sahel" third biggest
town in Tunisia. In Mahdia it is time to say goodbye
to the sea and turn west towards El Jem and its
roman ruins. Time for an over night rest in Sfax.
Second biggest town in Tunisia in the middle of
olive trees Sfax is the first, by its activity port
in Tunisia.
Day
4: A few more kilometers along the Mediterranean
Sea towards Gabès, sitting in the middle of more
than 300.000 palm trees. The road leaves the coast
and the sea that we will no more see for the next
5 days. The ride will end in Tataouine.
Day
5 : Rest day in Tataouine and for the most motivated
ones a half day expedition southwards in the desert
will be organized to visit some Ksours and Ghorfas.
Day
6 : Great adventure today! From Tataouine the
ride will go northwards through some of the most
beautiful Ksours. For the Star War fans there are
some important stops like Ksar Hadada where one
of the Star Wars movies was filmed. After Matmata
and a bit of road it is time to turn left on the
pipeline track! Approx. 70 kilometers of sandy track
to reach Ksar Ghilane and the tents. A fabulous
night!
Day
7 : More adventure today! Why not start the
day with a camel ride? Right after it is back on
the pipeline road northwards to get back on the
road towards Douz. After Kebili, here starts, on
a nice road, the ride through the Chott El Jerid!
Make sure you have sun glasses! A good rest in Tozeur
is a must after so much fun!
Day
8 : A long ride through towns like Gafsa, Kasserine
will take the tour to Sbeïtla and its roman ruins.
A bit more riding and here comes Kairouan in the
middle of the steppe. The queen city of carpets!
Day
9 : There is time to have some rest and visits
in Kairouan in the morning before leaving the steppes
and ride back to Tunis. Tunis where the modern town
is in harmony with the medina.
Day
10 : Back on the ferry in the morning for a
day cruise on the Mediterranean Sea.
Day
11 : The ferry will reach Marseille in the morning.
Time to adjust to the French roads again while we
will ride along the coast, back to Saint-Raphaël.
