Day
1
: This first day will be spent in Dublin without
the bikes, as it is much easier to walk and take
the bus to enjoy this great City! On the todo list
the Guiness Storehouse and the Jameson Distillery
are as important as the Dublin Castle, Trinity College,
Temple Bar etc… For the most motivated we can organise
a special vehicle tour.
Day
2 : The day starts with a relaxed ride through
the Wicklow Mountains before getting to the coast
in Arklow. As this is the first day of motorcycle
riding in Ireland and on the "wrong" side of the
road for many, the roads from Arklow to Waterford,
through Enniscorthy will offer a smooth and easy
ride.
Day
3 : The tour stays along the cost up to Cork.
If Dublin is the town of Guinness then Cork is Murphy's
one! After Cork the tour will ride north west along
the Inishcarra Reservoir towards Killarney in the
Kerry County. Time for a good rest as the next day
will be busy.
Day
4 : Now that everyone is used to the Irish way
of driving the tour goes around the Iveragh along
the Kerry Ring road. The beauty of the sceneries
is a perfect match to the curvy road. Here the word
comes true: the journey is the adventure not the
destination. Why stop with those lovely roads when
more comes around Dingle before ending the day in
Tralee.
Day
5 : Again a long day on the bikes to enjoy more
of the west coast. The ride stats easy from Tralee
to the river Shannon, Limerick and Ennis from where
it is a short ride to get to the south of the Burrens
and the cliffs of Moher. If the weather permits
the view on the three Aran Islands is worth it.
Day
6 : Make sure your camera has a lot of free
disk space as the ride will take you through some
of the most breath taking sceneries existing in
Ireland. Leaving Galway the tour will ride along
the Connemara coastal road all the way. In Clifden
the tour will enjoy the ride on the Sky Road. Then
it's back on the coastal road, riding on the north
side of the Maumturk Mountains before the road gets
over to the Mweelrea Mountains and through the Murrisk.
Overnight will be in Westport.
Day
7 : From Westport it is a short ride to the
Achill Island with the Clew Bay on one side and
the Blacksod Bay on the other side. The road will
follow the coast up to the north until it gets to
Ballina. The north side of the Ox Mountains will
stay on the left while the tour gets to Sligo.
Day
8 : Rest day! Sligo will be all yours for the
day. You can enjoy a warm welcome in a local pub
and have fun with the local people (remember that
in Ireland you come alone to a pub and leave it
with many friends. In Sligo you can visit the tomb
of Yates or the Megalitic tombs on Carrow More and
have a peaceful time in the Sligo abbey.
Day
9 : Leaving Sligo the tour also leaves the Republic
of Ireland for a first time in Northern Ireland
towards Enniskillen and the Lower Lough Erne. At
its north-west tip it is back to the Republic and
Donegal from where the tour will enjoy the view
on the Donegal bay before getting to the Glengesh
Pass. Before getting to Letterkenny for the overnight
stay, the tour will ride through an area called
"The Roses". Right after that and turning east here
comes the Errigal Mountain along the Derryveagh
Mounts and the Glenveagh National Park.
Day
10 : The game is to keep the Atlantic always
on the left hand, thus riding to the most northern
part of Ireland : the Malin Head located in the
Inishowen area. Down Inishowen the Lough Foyle replaces
the Atlantic on the left hand. From Londonderry
and for the next three days the tour leaves the
Republic for Northern Ireland. Get your British
pounds ready! Overnight in Coleraine.
Day
11 : A short ride in the morning and here comes
a jewel: the Giant Causeway, a unique rock formation
with octagonal stones. Still keeping the sea on
the left hand the tour will ride along the Antrim
coast with the Antrim mountains on the right, until
the tour gets to Belfast before reaching Newcastle
and the feet of the Mourne mountains for the night.
Day
12 : Starting with a short ride along the Mourne
Mountains and the Carlilngford Lough the tour is
back in the Republic of Ireland for a bit of straight
road to Drogheda from where the Boyne River will
take the tour to the Newgrange tumulus. Time for
a stop to visit this unique place is more than 5.000
years old (3.000 before J.C). Back on the bikes
for the final leg of the tour and a short ride along
the Howth peninsula. Dublin will welcome the tour
back.
Day
13 : One more day in Dublin to enjoy places
like Temple Bar, the Dublin Castle, Phoenix Park
and go for some shopping!
